Shipping Event BNP Paribas Fortis Chair
On
22 October 2019, the BNP Paribas Fortis Chair at the University of Antwerp,
hosted the second Shipping Event on the topic ‘Regulation and its impact on
investment decisions in the shipping industry and beyond" in Antwerp.
170 participants listened to a keynote of IMO, best practices from the
industry (CMB, DP World, Jan De Nul Group) and the opinions of EC, Euronav,
BNPP, FIATA and the academic world.

The
article “Testing for the burst of bubbles in dry bulk shipping market using
log periodic power law model” published by Shun Chen, Shiyuan Zheng and
Hilde Meersman in Maritime Business Review has been selected by the
editorial team as Highly Commended in the 2019 Emerald Literati Awards. The
paper can be downloaded free of charge for six months.

15-16 October 2019, TPR participated at the Clusters 2.0 Partner Board (PB)
meeting at Trieste (Italy). The meeting focused on the business aspects of
the project.

Digitrans nominated for AHA award
Thierry
Vanelslander (TPR) and Peter Hellinckx (IDLab) are nominated for an AHA!
Award in the category 'promising innovation trajectory' with the new
DigiTrans spin-off. DigiTrans aims at striking a perfect balance between
sector-specific knowledge in road transport operations and software
development expertise. The fleet optimization algorithms built through
DigiTrans work either as a back-end, or through a dedicated web-interface
or as a mobile app on mobile devices or PDAs.
